Our Story — Saint Seans USA | Panama City Heritage House

SAINT SEANS — HUMBLE BEGINNINGS
Saint Seans didn’t begin in a boardroom. It began on the water — Beck Avenue, Saint Andrews, Panama City, Florida.
SAINT SEANS was born from reflection — reflection on life, success, heritage, and the people who played a part in shaping the man behind the House.
Some of my earliest memories are tied to the working waterfront of Panama City. I remember riding with my Uncle Charles to pick up my daddy, England Smith, from work at the Shrimp Boat on Beck Avenue. My father worked the docks here. Nearby sat beautiful yachts — two worlds existing along the same waterfront: working-class determination and the quiet presence of aspiration.
At the time, I didn’t know those images would stay with me. I was simply taking in my surroundings — the docks, the boats, the people, the water, and another side of Panama City that existed right alongside the world I knew.
My father wore number 10 in every sport he played. His life taught me, without ever having to say it directly, that where you come from is not something you outgrow.
It is something you build upon.
Years later, other people would add to that foundation.
My former boss, Lauren Smith, took me on private outings and gave me opportunities to see the inside of a world I had only observed from afar. But what stayed with me wasn’t only where we went. It was the conversations. The knowledge he poured into me. The way he carried himself. His dress style.
Then there was Darell Jackson.
I remember him taking me to Dillard’s and telling me:
“It’s time to step up your dress code.”
That moment opened another door.
I began seeing clothing differently. I noticed the names. I smelled the stores. I touched the fabrics. I felt the textures and began understanding that clothing could communicate something before a person ever spoke.
I remembered wearing Panama Jack.
And somewhere through all of those experiences, I fell in love with clothing.
Looking back, I understand that SAINT SEANS didn’t begin with a logo or a collection.
It began with exposure.
A working waterfront.
A father coming home from work.
The number 10.
Yachts sitting at the dock.
An uncle giving me a ride.
A boss pouring knowledge into me.
A man telling me it was time to dress differently.
The first time I truly noticed the feel of quality fabric.
Different people played different parts. Different moments left different impressions.
Years later, those memories became the foundation of a House.
THE NAME
I named this brand from that community and from my father’s memory — Saint Andrews and O’Sean, the working-class Smith and the aspirational heir, brought together.
Those ideas are not opposites to me.
They are the story.
SAINT SEANS is about respecting where you began while refusing to place limits on where you can go. It carries the character of the docks and the aspiration of the yachts that sat beside them.
Our anchor is Proverbs 16:3:
“Commit your work to the Lord, and your plans will be established.”
That is not decoration.
It is the operating principle behind the House.
WHY WE STAY
I have seen what can happen when brands emerge from communities like mine: once they succeed, they leave. They relocate to larger fashion capitals, pursue bigger markets, and eventually allow the place that shaped them to become a footnote in their founding story.
I am building SAINT SEANS to do the opposite.
This will always be a Panama City company — not because staying is convenient, but because staying is the point.
I don’t simply want to build a Heritage House that lasts.
I want to prove that a hometown like mine can be the source of something the entire country wants to wear — that heritage, craftsmanship, ambition, and culture do not have to come from an established fashion capital to matter.
And as SAINT SEANS grows, I want that growth to mean something here.
To create opportunities.
To invest in people.
To contribute to the community that gave the House its identity.
And ultimately, to help rebuild this community into what it has always had the foundation to become:
A beacon of hope.
The yachts I saw as a child were never simply boats.
The docks were never simply a workplace.
The people were never simply passing characters.
They were pieces of a story I wouldn’t fully understand until years later.
Today, that story has a name.
SAINT SEANS.
This is only a short testimony.
— Dedric O’Sean Smith
Founder, SAINT SEANS USA
Saint Andrews • Panama City, Florida
Est.
